The statistics on ADHD teens and driving are scary. How do allow our teens to drive, but make it safer for our kids behind the wheel?
AD/HD & Driving - A Guild for parents of Teens with AD/HD, by J. Marlene Snyder is the first and only book on ADHD, teens, and driving. It is a must-read for all families who have or are contemplating having a teen with ADHD as a driver in the household. (Note: The book is out of print, but you can still find plenty of new and used copies on Amazon.com and other ADHD book selling sites.)
ADHD teens are neurologically more prone to speeding, and accidents. And it’s critical that parents set clear expectations for ADHD teens when they get behind the wheel.
Chapter titles include:
When you have finished reading the book you will be armed with strategies to use to encourage safe driving behaviors in your teen — observation tools, topics to that require extra emphasis, work sheets and sample contracts.

Any parent with an up and coming ADHD driver should at least consider these warnings. As an adult with ADHD, I can say that I am lucky to be alive after some of my early driving incidents. Accidents and speeding were constant. Distractions on the road can effect any driver but the problem is compounded for the young adult with ADHD.

My name is Robert D Allison III I am the inventor of a device called Lifebelt.
Any teen driver check list must include making sure that before starting their car they must put on their seatbelts. Lifebelt was designed to do just that by giving teens the opportunity to make good choices ever time they start their car!
Lifebelt in short prevents the driver from starting the car until they have put on there safety belt. As a secondary function if any of the vehicle’s monitored occupants “up to 8 the driver and seven passengers” unbuckle while the vehicle is in operation the vehicle’s radio is turned off and a 50db alarm will sound until all unbuckled belts are re-buckled. The safe operation of the vehicle is not effected in any way! I.e. the car won’t turn off!
Lifebelts universal design allows it to be installed in most vehicle in less then 15 minutes either be parents or local car stereo shops.
thnak you and please be safe
